Vocano is a nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, Washington, working to help individuals find meaningful, fulfilling, and sustainable work.
Our mission is to research, publish, and provide tools and resources that help individuals find meaningful, fulfilling, and sustainable work, with a focus on equity, self-empowerment, self-determination, validation, and long-term contributions that benefit both the individual and society.
Most career tools are built for employers, or treat the search for work as a problem of matching resumes to job postings. We start from a different place: the individual, and the harder questions underneath the job search. What work is worth doing? What fits a person's values, circumstances, and sense of purpose? How do people build working lives that are sustainable over the long term, not just the next hire?
Vocano was founded in 2025 as a Washington nonprofit corporation and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity. We are a young organization building toward that mission deliberately, grounded in research and a commitment to serving people directly.
Vocano is led by Executive Director, Elise Linn Shehram.
